Acute Care

Acute care services at Faircape Health Institute are delivered by Multidisciplinary Teams (MDTs) of health care professionals. Acute care provides medical support for patients to prepare them for discharge to less intensive care scenarios (sub-acute care).

Acute Care Specialised Services

A wide variety of diseases and injuries may require acute care that require a broad set of clinical skill sets to properly treat. At Faircape Health Institute, we have segmented our services into care divisions of excellence, to ensure our clinicians are highly skilled and experienced for every condition we treat. Acute care may include intensive treatment actives such as continuous cardiac and oxygen saturation monitoring, IV fluids and antibiotics, blood transfusions, tracheostomy and stoma care.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

We deliver structured rehabilitation for patients with acute and chronic cardiac conditions, supporting safe recovery and long-term cardiovascular health.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary rehabilitation is a far-reaching treatment incorporating exercise, education and behavioural intervention to help those with chronic lung disease. Programmes include training, health education, breathing techniques, nutritional guidance, and smoking cessation support to name a few.

Geriatric Rehabilitation

Geriatric rehabilitation aims to restore function, enhance residual functional capability, restore lost function where possible, and improve the quality of life, especially for those who are frail.

Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation

Musculoskeletal rehabilitation is designed to help the person return to the highest level of function and independence possible, while improving the overall quality of life — physically, emotionally, and socially.

Neurological Rehabilitation

Our team manages stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurological conditions across acute, sub-acute, and complex rehabilitation phases.

Oncology Rehabilitation

We support oncology patients across the care continuum, from active treatment to recovery and palliative phases.

Prehabilitation

Prehabilitation is a unique form of physical therapy which improves post-operative outcomes by improving pre-operative performance. This evidence-based approach to surgery recovery has shown to reduce the length of hospital stay, post-operative pain, as well as complications after surgery.

Our Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) Approach

At Faircape Health Institute, we bring together healthcare professionals from different fields to collaborate on treatment plans for optimal clinical outcomes in the acute care setting. Primary and allied healthcare practitioners combine their specialities to administer the most comprehensive treatment plans available:
